THE PROJECT
This site, located in Normandy, is a facility for washing polluted soil. After excavating soil from former industrial wastelands along the Seine, the soil is shipped by boat to a soil remediation platform downstream. Material throughput is 100 t/h. These materials are soils mixed with various elements: pebbles, metals, plastics, etc. The operator’s objective is to produce washed aggregates and sands.
NEYRTEC MINERAL SOLUTION
The soils to be treated can have a lot of clay and therefore very sticky, requiring effective sludge removal. NEYRTEC MINERAL carried out the project, which included process engineering, overall design and equipment integration. This includes:
- An apron feeder (8x3m) for flow regulation
- An overband to remove metal parts
- ROLOFLUX (24×80) rotary silt storage, diameter 2.4 meters, length 8 meters.
- A 10 m2 high-energy screen
- Attrition cell bench (48-4)
- A SANDYFLUX cycloning/spinning unit
- Conveyors and framework
PERFORMANCES
With a high throughput (100 t/h) and a wide range of materials, sand and gravel are washed and free of clays.

The treatment of excavated soil, also known as polluted or inert soil, is a major issue and a major challenge for our environment and public health. Excavated soil is material extracted from the earth during construction, excavation or site decontamination work. Previously, these soils were stored as is in ISDN (Installation de Stockage de Déchets Non dangereux – non-hazardous waste storage facility), but increasingly strict regulations oblige operators to treat these soils appropriately in order to minimize risks to the environment and human health.
Today, facilities such as these are able to recover most of the components for materials from industrial wasteland.
